In a mere 10 days, Band Together NC, with the efforts of local artists Caitlin
Cary and Dave Bartholomew, has responded to Katrinas wrath by putting people
who want to help in the triangle together with great Triangle-based music. On
September 25th at
, 13 bands played for a marathon 12 hours of entertainment.

What is the cause: Proceeds will benefit The Food Bank of Eastern and Central NC. The Food Bank will directly disburse food to Gulf Coast victims as well as evacuees displaced in The Triangle. $1 raised = $10 worth of food donated.

Why: The magic of New Orleans, the beauty of the Louisiana swamps and the tranquility of the Mississippi and Alabama countryside are mere memories. Homes and businesses are destroyed, and families are torn apart. It is clear that this country is going to have to take in a large number of displaced people, for a time yet to be determined. After basic needs (food, water, medicine) are taken care of, there are going to be a whole lot of people who will want somewhere more permanent to stay than Houston's Astrodome.
