Band Together is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses live music as a platform for social change. We have been a force of positive change and impact in the Triangle community since 2001! Following the tragic events of 9/11, our founders chose to be the change they wanted to see in the world. They co-founded what has become, to date, a philanthropic machine for marketing, fun, awareness, action, and social impact in the Triangle.

A key reason for the success of Band Together is our partnerships with local nonprofits. Every year, after a rigorous vetting process, Band Together chooses Triangle nonprofits doing the important work our community needs. Since September 11, 2001, under the leadership of an active Board and driven by a team of dynamic volunteers, Band Together has donated more than $10 million to over 20 Triangle nonprofits, including The YMCA of The Triangle, Special Olympics, Stop Hunger Now, Food Bank of Eastern NC, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, SAFEchild, The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, StepUP Ministry, Alliance Medical Ministry, Tammy Lynn Center, Triangle Family Services, Communities In Schools of Durham/Wake County, The United Way, and The Interfaith Food Shuttle.

Band Together has made monumental steps forward in the evolution of the organization. In 2010, the first Advisory Board was formed and is comprised of a group of energetic community leaders and music lovers committed to the success of Band Together. In 2012 we hired our first Executive Director, and in 2014 topped the $3.5 million mark in total dollars raised to benefit the Triangle community. And in 2015 we added a program manager, raised $2 million with StepUp Ministry, and surpassed $5.5 million in total dollars raised for our community. In 2020, we partnered with The United Way to respond to racial injustice through an online live music telethon. In 2021, we retooled our Advisory Board to become a Community Board, more representative of the area we serve.

Looking to our shared future, we hope that you will join our band of volunteers, staff, and partners to continue to make the Triangle the best place to live in the country. We appreciate your support and involvement as we venture to continue to grow the largest annual philanthropic live music event in the Southeast. Join us.
