MISSION & VALUES
CONNECTING OUR COMMUNITY
Band Together is an amazing story full of hope, optimism, and a dose of rebellion. Band Together was imagined by Triangle community leaders as a response to the tragedies of September 11, 2001. The vision has evolved from raising funds to support international tragedies to raising funds and awareness with a special nonprofit partner every year. Thanks to the tireless efforts of thousands of volunteers, generous corporate and individual sponsors, dedicated board members, musicians, and the generosity of our community, Band Together has risen to be a powerful partner to nonprofits in the Triangle Area.
Band Together has collaboratively raised over $15.4 million to benefit the Triangle community since 2001, strengthened corporate and non-profit relationships, supported musicians, and had a lot of fun along the way.

PARTNERSHIP PHILANTHROPY
Partnership philanthropy is at the heart of how Band Together creates lasting impact. Each year, we partner with local nonprofits in a deep, year-long collaboration designed to strengthen fundraising, build organizational capacity, and amplify awareness for their mission. By combining resources, expertise, and community support, we help our partners grow sustainably and extend their reach across the Triangle. While our approach has evolved over time, partnership has always been central to how we operate.
Each year, we listen to our community to identify a critical area of need across the Triangle. We then select local nonprofit organizations working to strengthen our region in that space. The needs facing our community are complex, and by partnering with multiple organizations each year, we can support solutions that reflect the multifaceted nature of the work.
Our nonprofit selection process is thoughtful and community-driven, carefully evaluating each organization’s goals, opportunities, sustainability, and potential for impact. We are intentional about minimizing bias and incorporating feedback from a diverse group of community leaders. Once selected, partners embark on a collaborative journey that extends far beyond a single event — building momentum, visibility, and long-term support for their work.
